Rosacoke seems to be the glue that holds this family together. Although her father is rather incapacitated Rosa stays by his bedside every minuet of her life. The literary devices utilized are that of native or rather natural dialogue for the characters. His use of their tone and that of the narrator intensify the readers experience. I believe it is the wishes of the author for the audience or rather the readers to understand the family, the plight of Rasa and the ties that bond said family.
