In the story “Handeling Charges” you learn that Jeff makes his own decision about the horse. I feel that because of his disease he makes these decisions. In this story the horse appears to be a symbol to the character in the story (Jeff). Because of the characters disease and his mothers continual denial they face problems together. What is Orth trying to tell me in this story? I have found her writing to be a bit confusing. She mentions the style horse, does this have any impact on Jeff and his decision?
Once Jeff passes on I think things will be o.k., but for the time being his mother seems to be destroying him. Her lies and his scars are not a pretty sight. I find the mother to be a big pain. Maybe Trova has some mental problems herself! I think it is probably very hard for her to se that Jeff is deteriorating.
