To be eligible for this program, you must:

• Be a low-income and first-generation college student,
  or underrepresented in your field of study at the doctoral level;
• Be currently enrolled at Cal Poly Pomona with junior or senior standing;
• Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Procedure: Please note that everyone must fill out an Eligibility Form, and submit it to the McNair Program office before you fill out the application.

1. Eligibility Form: Fill out the form completely and turn it in to the McNair Scholars Program office on the second floor of Cal Poly Pomona's Library (2921). Students must turn in a Eligibility Form before completing the application packet.
2. Application Packet: Once it has been determined that you are eligible for the program and you will be given a application. You should complete all parts of the application packet. Incomplete or late application packets will not be accepted. At the information meeting, you will receive an application and all other materials you need to complete the application process. Applications are due by noon, October 24, 2008.
3. Interview: Once your application is processed, you will interview with the selection committee. Interviews will be held in November.

A complete application packet includes the following:

1. The completed 4-page application;
2. A photocopy of the appropriate federal income tax form;
3. If applicable, a copy of your most recent financial aid form;
4. Your official, sealed transcripts from the Records Office or a copy of the receipt showing they have been ordered;
5. Your Personal Statement of no more than 500 words;
6. Three letters of recommendation. These may be emailed to
   mcnair@csupomona.edu or sent to the McNair Scholars Program office Library 2921 through campus mail.

Please note that some of this information will take time to gather. You should plan accordingly. As soon as you decide to apply to the program, have your transcripts sent to the McNair Scholars Program, and ask professors and others to write letters of recommendations. If you wait to do these thing, you may find that the deadline will arrive, and your application packet will be incomplete. All complete application packets must be returned to the McNair Scholars Program office (Library, Room 2921) no later than 12:00 noon on October 24, 2008.
