EDGAR Search CIK Lookup "The Central Index Key (CIK) is used on the SEC's computer systems to identify corporations and individual people who have filed disclosure with the SEC." That is, verify that the company is indeed a public company!

Annual Reports Online This site is more a "how to" find annual reports than a listing of companies. See also AnnualReports.com and Public Register's Annual Report Service. And of course see the University Library's Tutorial Help - Finding Annual Reports. Note also that public companies tend to present their annual reports on the Internet.

eSignal eSignal includes a wide variety of free company data including Stock quotes. Use the stock ticker symbol to find the company.

Hoover's Online Though this is a fee-based site the "Hoover's Company Capsules" link brings brief data for more than 11,000 of the largest public and private companies worldwide. Note that the University Library subscribes to Hoover's Company Records.

IPO Central IPO stands for "Initial Public Offering"; go here (also from Hoover's) to find companies that have gone public or registered to go public.

EDGAR® SEC Filings:

EDGAR Database of Corporate Information Search the last three years by entering the company name: Search EDGAR Archives. You retrieve the full-text of US Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) filings (10(K), 8(K), 10(Q), etc.). There are other ways to search EDGAR explained at Search the EDGAR Database.
