Handbooks

Engineering handbooks are ready reference tools -- compact, comprehensive sources of data and information frequently needed by engineers. Two important Mechanical Engineering handbooks are:

Marks' Standard Handbook for Mechanical Engineers, ed. by Eugene A. Avallone & Theodore Baumeister III, McGraw-Hill, 1996. REF TJ 151 S82

Mechanical Engineers' Handbook, ed. by Myer Kutz, Wiley, 1998. REF TJ 151 M395

These handbooks provide:

• mathematical tables, formulas, conversion factors
• chapters on basic topics such as heat, power generation, and materials
• drawings and diagrams illustrating parts, nomenclature, and principles
• charts and tables providing properties of materials and data on gears, piping and tubing, turbines, etc., etc., etc.
