Improve your research and information literacy skills with Research101, a series of five modules designed to equip you with the research skills you'll need for college success. Each module is approximately 10-15 minutes long, and they all have pre and post self-tests, which will give you a good indication about what you already know, what you’ve learned, and what you might still need to go back and review. After completing a module and passing the post-test, you can print out a certificate of completion with your name on it to submit to instructors who assign the tutorial for course credit.
Part 1, What’s Your Topic, focuses on selecting, investigating, and refining your topic.
In Part 2, you’ll learn about different information types. You’ll also learn strategies for determining what kind of information you’ll need to find for your topic.
Part 3 focuses on using library resources to find high quality information on your topic. Specifically, you’ll learn how using library resources can save you time and help you succeed. You’ll also learn strategies for finding books and finding articles.
Part 4 focuses on evaluating information, and Part 5 explores how to use and cite information ethically and responsibly.
Each module has pre and post self-quizzes, which will give you a good indication about what you already know, what you’ve learned, and what you might still need to go back and review.
