Standards and specifications are documents issued by professional or trade associations or by government agencies. They define the properties, strength, size, shape, etc. of materials, components, and products. Standards also describe processes, procedures, and test methods as well as time, distance, measurements, apparel sizing, and more.
Standards can be difficult to find in academic libraries. They tend to be quite expensive and as they are frequently revised it can be difficult to keep up with the latest editions.
The Cal Poly Pomona Library does not maintain an extensive collection of standards but we do have some, including:
ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) IEEE Standards National Fire Codes (includes National Electric Code), REF TH9111.N375a SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) |
We do have other standards. If you're looking for a standard not listed here, check the Library Catalog or contact the Engineering Librarian . Also, you can use Document Delivery to borrow copies from another library.
For more information about Standards and Specifications, including websites to search for standards, see Websites by Subject: Standards and Specifications.
