The College of Engineering educates engineers and technologists to meet increasingly complex technical and socioeconomic challenges. The College of Engineering provides study opportunities to more than 5,000 undergraduate and graduate students in seven engineering departments, offering eleven programs leading to Bachelor of Science degrees in Aerospace, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering Technology, and Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology. In addition, the graduate division offers programs leading to Master of Science degrees in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Management, and Mechanical Engineering. The undergraduate curricula are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission or the Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET, Inc. (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Administrative Support Coordinator organizes the daily operations of the office of the Associate Dean for Student Affairs and is the first point of contact for students visiting the Dean's Office in the College of Engineering; responds accurately and efficiently to numerous personal, mail, e-mail, and telephone inquiries; prepares correspondence for the Associate Dean and the Dean; handles a variety of mail and other correspondence and multiple calendars. Tracks and monitors a wide variety of student documents necessary for students' academic progress including academic petitions, change of major requests, requests to drop or withdraw, and similar documents submitted by students. Provides knowledgeable information to students regarding procedures and the status of their requests. Manipulates College database to prepare reports related to these transactions; provide administrative support and coordination for College functions and events such as new student orientation and advising, first year experience, pre-college programs, open house, preview day, and commencement; creates materials for review by the Dean and Associate Dean. Independently handles many logistic and administrative details for these various large events. Acts as a liaison to campus administrators, faculty, and staff on issues related to the Dean's Office; coordinates activities with various organizations, departments, and offices on campus; interacts with faculty, staff, and students from local high schools and colleges; represents the College in an informed and professional manner.
High School diploma or its equivalent AND Four years of progressively responsible experience in general office clerical or secretarial work or the equivalent. Thorough, detailed knowledge of applicable university infrastructure, policies, and procedures; thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation and spelling; thorough knowledge of office systems and ability to use broader range of technology, systems, and software packages; ability to independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects. Ability to apply a variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist; working knowledge of budget policies and procedures; ability to perform standard business math, such as calculate ratios and percentages, track financial data, and make simple projections; ability to draft and compose correspondence and standard reports; ability to handle effectively a broader range of interpersonal contacts including those at a higher level and those sensitive in nature.
