Using Versamail to connect to Exchange on the Treo 650

Important Note

The following setup instructions will work only if you run the program VersaMail on your Treo 650, not any of the other mail services offered by Cingular, Sprint or Verizon.

Cingular Subscribers – If you are a Cingular subscriber, VersaMail comes pre-installed and you need only select it while following the setup instructions below.

Sprint Subscribers – If you are a Sprint subscriber, VersaMail comes pre-installed and you need only select it while following the setup instructions below.

Verizon Subscribers – If you are a Verizon subscriber, you need to install VersaMail from the CD included with your PDA prior to starting the setup instructions below.

Setup for Cal Poly Pomona Exchange

  1. On the Home Screen choose VersaMail.
  2. Under Menu choose Accounts.
  3. Choose Account Setup.
  4. Select New.
  5. Under Account Name enter in a name of your choosing. For example, you could enter “CPP Exchange.”
  6. Select Exchange ActiveSync from the list of mail services.
  7. Click Next.
  8. For Username enter your BroncoName; for Password enter your BroncoPassword. Your BroncoName is the prefix before @csupomona.edu in your email address and your BroncoPassword is the password you use to access your email.
  9. For Email address enter your Cal Poly Pomona email address
  10. For mail server enter exchange.csupomona.edu.
  11. Click Next.
    NOTE: If you would like to confirm the advanced settings, click Advanced and then follow steps 12-14 below (this is optional); if not, skip directly to step 14 below.
  12. Use default settings. The settings should read “Port Number: 443” and the box next to “Use Secure Connection (SSL)” should be checked.
  13. Under Proxy Server, make sure the box next to “Proxy Authentication” is not checked.
  14. Click Done.
