This is an excellent site to follow development of transportation projects in California as well as find historical information on projects.

METROLINK
Like CalTrans this site has as it's focus mass transportation. Has a wealth on information on the metrolink program as well as schedules.

MTA (Metropolitan Transportation Authority)
Red Line, Green Line, Blue line and all future lines. This is a good place to start for information on the LA Subway.

US Census Bureau
The web contains many sites for census information, this is an official US site and is easy to use. It also has powerful map drawing capabilities.
