eHelpCell phones paid for by the University must be ordered through I&IT. Cell phone carriers include Verizon, Cingular and Sprint/Nextel. Any wireless phone requests and/or service must be approved by a College Dean or Department Director. All state-purchased cellular phones must be used for university business only.
Requests for new or upgrades of cell phones, accessories and/or services need to be emailed by the responsible department representative to Cassandra Reyes at creyes@csupomona.edu. Be sure to copy the email to the authorized approving person. By copying the authorized person, you are indicating that this phone request/and or service has been approved. In the email to Cassandra, please include (if this request is for a new phone): the department’s name, chart field string number, complete name of user and a complete description of the request. If the request is for an upgrade, please include: user’s complete name, the cell phone number and carrier (vendor) and a complete description of request.
You may go to the provider pages below for descriptions of general phone devices, plans and accessories. Please note: Our vendor contracts do not always offer the same discounts and devices as you would find at a local vendor’s store. Also, purchases made at a local vendor store cannot be transferred to the Cal Poly Pomona contract.

Some of I&IT's vendors offer discounts for faculty and staff who wish to purchase cell phones for personal use. Please call the vendor directly for any personal purchases, pricing or changes. I&IT does not have information on any of these discount programs.

Mobile phones with the ability to be Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) can also be ordered. Cell phone/PDA device functions include web browsing, electronic mail and digital cameras.
Among the most popular types of these devices is the Treo 700 model (either Palm or Windows-based). I&IT can obtain the Treo from Verizon. Other models may be obtained from the various cell phone carriers.
If faculty or staff want to order PDAs that are NOT cell phones, they need to order them through their normal administrative channels within their departments or colleges.
