Managing Email Spam

Client Configuration Guide: Entourage (Mac)

  1. Make sure you have completed the basic setup of SpamAssassin
  2. Open the Entourage application
  3. From the "File" menu, select "New" and "Folder" within your desired account
  4. Give the folder a name (i.e. Spam)
  5. From the "Tools" menu, select "Rules"
  6. Select your connection type tab "Mail (POP)" or "Mail (IMAP)"
    NOTE: To check your connection type select "Tools" -> "Accounts" from the menu
  7. Click the "New" button
  8. Within the "Rule name:" field, type X-Spam-Flag
  9. Within the "If" area, select the "Folder" drop-down box and select "Specific Header"
  10. A text box to the right of the "Specific Header" drop-down appears
  11. Type X-Spam-Flag
  12. Verify the next drop-down box is set to "Contains"
  13. To the right of the "Contains" drop-down box, type YES
  14. Within the "Then" area, select the "Change Status" drop-down box and select "Move message"
  15. Select "Choose folder..."
  16. Select (highlight) your newly created folder (i.e. Spam)
  17. Click "Choose"
  18. Click "OK" to close and save the filter
  19. Close the "Rules" window
